History of EcoAdventures
In a region loved by visitors but stretched by its popularity, EcoAdventures was created as a social enterprise of the Bruce Peninsula Biosphere Association to offer a better way to explore while generating an additional revenue stream to support the conservation and steward work of the Association.

With the initial funding in 2018 from the Ontario Trillium Foundation and Greenbelt Foundation, EcoAdventures launched and tested a variety of eco-tours to create a more prosperous, resilient and understood Greenbelt that extends right into the Bruce Peninsula - A part of the Niagara Escarpment, UNESCO World Biosphere, and an area with one of the highest concentrations of rare species in Canada.

In the early days, EcoAdventures explored a range of programming while navigating the ups and downs of COVID-19 and an evolving tourism landscape. Through it all, we built strong, lasting relationships with local collaborators that continue to work with us today, including Bruce Peninsula National Park, the Municipality of Northern Bruce Peninsula, Bruce County, and the band-owned Cape Croker Park in the First Nations community of Neyaashiinigmiing.

At EcoAdventures, creativity and connection drive everything we do. Our mission is to help people engage with nature and inspire stewardship—because we believe people protect what they love. That belief sparked one of our most popular offerings: Outdoor Escape Rooms.

In 2022, EcoAdventures created the Saugeen Sojourn, a three day immersive guided experience developed in collaboration with the organization that would later become Anishinaabe Cultural Experiences at Cape Croker Park. When COVID disrupted travel and participation, demand declined and the Saugeen Sojourn came to a natural close. However, in 2025, a Memorandum of Understanding between Anishinaabe Cultural Experiences and the Bruce Peninsula Biosphere Association re-imagined the Sojourn as a four-season, co-led initiative. Together, we now share in its development, delivery, and success—connecting youth, new Canadians, first-time campers, and families to nature while advancing reconciliation through deeper understanding of Anishinaabe peoples.
